The "deserted port”, in Thoukididis, that was inhabited by aristocrats from Corfu and rich Roman landowners; the Venetian commercial terminal of "Porto delle Gomenizze”; the base of the Ottoman fleet, an ever-safe anchorage for ship crossing the northern Ionian Sea. Walk up to the beautiful Grove to admire the fascinating ruins of the 15th century Venetian castle, the town’s stronghold during the Turkish rule.
